Frequently Asked Questions
Getting Started
How do I get started?
Start by filling in the short “Tell Me About Your Child” form, then choose a class time that suits your family. Once you’ve booked, your child completes a free 30-minute home assessment on their own, and you send it back to me. This helps me understand how they think, what they know, and how they feel about learning, so I can plan around them from their very first class.
Can we try a class first?
Yes. Your child can join one 50-minute group class as a trial for £25, subject to space. This is available once per child. After the trial, you can join by booking the term.
What ages do you work with?
Knowmadic Tutoring works with children aged 5 to 11. Maths groups are currently running for Year 1 and Year 2.
What subjects do you cover?
Maths, English, and Phonics. Maths group classes are running now. English and Phonics groups are coming soon, and you’re welcome to get in touch to register your interest.
Group Classes
How do group classes work?
Small groups of up to 4 children meet once a week for a 50-minute class. Classes run by term and follow the school calendar, so they don’t run during school holidays or half terms.
-
Autumn term: 14 classes, £350
-
Spring term: 11 classes, £275
-
Summer term: 14 classes, £350
Prices are per child, per subject.
How do I choose a group?
You choose the class time that works best for your child when you book. The “Tell Me About Your Child” form and home assessment then help me shape how I teach and support your child within their group, so each child still gets a personalised experience in a small group setting.
Can we join partway through a term?
Yes. If you join mid term, you only pay for the classes remaining in that term.
What if I know other families who’d want to join?
Wonderful, get in touch and we can look at forming a group together. Groups need at least 2 children to run.
1:1 Tutoring
Do you offer 1:1 sessions?
1:1 tutoring is available subject to availability. Please email me directly to arrange it.
What’s included in 1:1 support?
Personalised lesson planning, a calm and pressure free learning environment, creative interest led learning, emotional regulation and confidence building, immediate tailored feedback, and the Roots to Reach Method applied specifically to your child.
Wellbeing
What is the Flow Session?
A free, optional monthly session included for all 1:1 and group programme students. Children use creative activities to manage their emotions and feel well in themselves.
Payment
How do I pay?
All payments are made securely by card through Stripe when you book on the website. A class or session isn’t confirmed until payment has been received.
What are my payment options for group classes?
You can choose the option that suits you best:
-
Pay the full term before it starts
-
Pay monthly by automatic card instalments (£87.50 a month in Autumn and Summer, £91.67 a month in Spring)
-
Pay for the full year upfront at a discounted rate of £900 instead of £975, which works out as 3 free classes
How do I pay for 1:1 sessions?
1:1 sessions are paid in advance through Stripe when you book. The First Lesson and pay per session bookings are paid before each session, and packages are paid in full upfront.
Cancellations and Rescheduling
What if my child misses a group class?
I ask for at least 24 hours’ notice if your child can’t attend. Missed group classes aren’t refunded or carried over, but your child will receive the class notes and a follow up activity so they don’t fall behind. Classes aren’t recorded.
How do I stop group classes?
Please give at least one month’s notice in writing by email. For monthly plans, this is one month before your next payment date. For termly plans, it’s one month before the next term starts, and for yearly plans, one month before the next academic year.
What if my child can’t make a 1:1 session?
With 24 hours’ notice or more, the session can be rearranged to another time within 14 days. Each booked session can be rearranged once, and if the rearranged session is then cancelled, it will be charged in full. Sessions cancelled with less than 24 hours’ notice, or missed without notice, are charged in full and can’t be rearranged or refunded.
Can I get a refund?
Sessions already delivered are non-refundable. If you need to stop a 1:1 package partway through, remaining unused sessions are reviewed on a case by case basis. Full details are in my Terms & Conditions.
Sessions
What platform do you use?
Classes are delivered live on Lessonspace, which combines video with an interactive whiteboard. A joining link is shared once, ahead of your first class, and the same link is used every week.
What do we need for classes to run smoothly?
A stable WiFi connection, and ideally a laptop, PC, or tablet in a quiet space free from distractions. A drawing tablet isn’t required, but it can help make classes even more interactive on the whiteboard, and these are easy to buy online if you’d like one.
Are there any rules for keeping classes safe?
Yes. To protect every child in the group, please don’t record, photograph, or screenshot classes or materials. Children should use their first name only on screen, and an adult should be nearby during classes, especially for younger children.
Do you provide updates on my child’s progress?
Yes. I share regular updates with parents on how classes are going, and periodically this includes written feedback on your child’s progress.
Can I ask for extra support outside of classes?
Yes, additional support like extra marking or extended written feedback can be arranged separately if needed, though it isn’t included as standard and would require payment .
